Lovell’s offices in Leeds and Nottingham have bucked the regional slowdown to secure a record haul of work in the last six months.

New schemes in Doncaster, Skipton, York and Stockton have enabled the contractor to secure over 1,200 new homes for sale and rent.

The projects range from building the first council houses in York for 20 years, to the most eco-friendly homes in Bradford, with the region’s first Code 6 properties.

Its biggest job is a 10-year, £108m regeneration scheme on the edge of Derby city centre at Castleward.

Delivered through its joint venture company Compendium Living, this scheme will create a sustainable community of 800 new homes alongside commercial development, a school and green space.

Noel Adams, regional director at Lovell said: “In a difficult market these successes are extremely encouraging and provide us with a solid base to build on over the next 12 to 24 months.

“By securing a variety of sales and contract opportunities, we are able to cement our status as a leading provider of affordable and market housing throughout the region.

The Code 6 homes at Bradford helps to reinforce our track record in successfully delivering all levels of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

“We are continuing to work together with our clients in order to find housing solutions that can deliver new homes where they are needed.”

    Eastern region contract wins

  • Moortown, Leeds – refurbishment contract for 177 homes in the North East of the city.
  • Hanover Externals – refurbishment contract in Sheffield continuing a seven-year partnership.
  • Castleward, Derby – £108m scheme is expected to take over 10 years and will see 800 new homes alongside commercial development, a school, a community centre, community spaces and green space.
  • Montgomery Fields, Wath phase 2 – Lovell will deliver 41 new homes in the Dearne Valley.
  • Northshore, Stockton – First 50 units are underway alongside the River Tees. Around 175 homes will ultimately be built on North Shore’s ‘Homezone’. Alongside sister company Muse, Lovell will kick-start the wider regeneration of the Stockton Riverside.
  • Six Streets, Doncaster – £13m mixed tenure development will see Lovell rejuvenate a small area of Doncaster and build 123 new homes.
  • Kirby Street, Mexborough – work started this month in Mexborough to deliver 32 new homes for sale and 7 for rent. The development will run until 2013.
  • Bestwood, Nottingham – contracted to build 15 units for Metropolitan Housing Trust.
  • Lilbourne Drive, York – Lovell will build 19 super efficient Code 5 homes – the first council houses in York for 20 years.
