Betting Spy: Liverpool 2/1 for Arsene kicking

I know it’s not big or clever to kick a man while he’s down.

But when a swing of the boot can land you a few quid let’s join the crowd and attack Arsene Wenger.

Old Arsene is ageing by the day as the good folk of north London turn on their former hero. And that’s not a good look for a man who was born looking 50.

Revolutionary talk is in the air over espressos and cup cakes around Islington as Gooners everywhere are losing patience with Professor Wenger.

And the mood around the Emirates could get even uglier on Saturday when Liverpool come to town.

The Reds can be backed at 2/1 with Paddy Power and I fancy them to take advantage of a very fragile looking Arsenal outfit.

The Gunners haven’t lost a game this season.

But all the old problems are there – fragile defence, lightweight midfield and a frontline that couldn’t score in the Aqua Sauna.

Kenny Dalglish’s men got off to a stuttering start with a home draw against Sunderland but they might just open up a bit more away from home without the weight of the Kop’s expectations on their shoulders.

Luis Suarez is a great striker and I can see big Andy Carroll giving the Arsenal centre halves a torrid time.

Wenger’s dallying in the transfer market is hard to fathom but Arsenal fans need to have a clear idea of who could do a better job – and would want to take over – before they force him out.

Scott Parker would be a great addition to the team – he was player of the season last year in a doomed West Ham side which he tried to keep up on his own.

Parker would provide bite and a defensive screen in the middle, plus a bit more drive and direct play rather than the endless faffing about which frustrates everyone at the Emirates.

Unfortunately Parker is English and over 30 so he hardly fits Arsene’s profile when it comes to transfer targets.

For a bit of a longer shot this weekend let’s also try an away double for Fulham to beat Wolves and Wigan to win at Swansea which pays over 9/1 if it comes off.
