Managing director Alastair Stannah told the Andover Advertiser: “While we have worked hard to extend our product range and meet the needs of more of the market, 2011 will be the third year in succession that Stannah Lifts continues to face a difficult market.
“Current forecasts indicate that the construction industry will decline further over the next two years meaning prospects for the company remain extremely challenging.
“We have carried out a detailed review of the business and we regret to announce that it has become necessary to propose the loss of up to 30 jobs within the company.”
The firm will now enter a a consultation period with a committee of elected employee representatives.
Stannah said: “We very much regret that we have to take these steps, but with the outlook for the market and the construction industry it is necessary so that we can provide a secure basis and foundation for the future.”
The redundancies are at Stannah Lifts Limited and do not affect the other companies in the group – Stannah Stairlifts Ltd, Stannah Microlifts Ltd and Stannah Lift Services Ltd.
