HMP Grampian will be a new 500-inmate prison designed to replace prisons at Peterhead and Aberdeen.

For the first time the new prison will have cells for women and young offenders as well as male inmates.

The Scottish Prison Service said it intended to award the design and build contract to Skanska Construction, probably in November.
