Wates and Chesterfield Council are organising the event in a bid to allocate the available fit-out work packages.
The open day will take place at Chesterfield Market Hall Assembly Rooms on Wednesday 9 November, from 7am until 1:30pm.
Wates will start work on the refurbishment of the existing Grade II listed Market Hall building and the construction of the adjoining new-build extension next February alongside Mace who are managing the project.
Work will also include the refurbishment of the Assembly Rooms, the restoration of the listed exterior and the construction of brand new offices and public toilets, with community access improvements.
Andy Hands, Business Manager for Wates Construction, Midlands, said: “It is our intention to use our presence in Chesterfield to benefit local trade and enhance employment.
“This Meet the Buyer event will be a opportunity for local companies to become a part of this project, and will be a catalyst to boosting local commerce.
“We are fully committed to investing in the communities in which we work, a commitment that will see this project offer further employment and training opportunities in the area.”
Cllr John Burrows, Leader of Chesterfield Borough Council: “There are plenty of opportunities for local companies and trades people to be involved with the Market Hall improvements.
“It’s also a once in a lifetime chance to work on such an iconic building so I’d urge anyone interested to go to the Meet the Buyer event to find out more.”
Work packages available include fit-out and finishing trades, decorating services, fire protection and conservation specialists for the refurbishment of the Grade II listed building.
The project, which is being funded jointly by Chesterfield Borough Council and grants from the European Regional Development Fund and the Heritage Lottery Fund, is scheduled for completion towards the end of 2012 in preparation for the building’s reopening in February 2013.
