Silverdell’s subsidiary Kitsons will carry out the work as part of the UK’s Nuclear Decommissioning Programme.
Kitsons is one of six contractors chosen to carry out de-planting, demolition and bulk removal of asbestos.
Silverdell said the deal will replace work currently being undertaken at the Magnox Chapelcross Nuclear power station in Scotland which is set to wind down in 2012.
Sean Nutley, Chief Executive of Silverdell, said: “This Framework Contract marks another significant stage in Silverdell’s expansion into the strictly regulated, high value nuclear sector.
“Work in the nuclear sector is specialised, hazardous and therefore very stringently regulated, which means that there are very high barriers to entry.
“We are fortunate enough to enjoy a good reputation in this sector, and we plan to build on it to become the partner of choice for the entire nuclear sector.
“We are all very much looking forward to providing an excellent service to Magnox across its whole portfolio of power plants.”
