Gavin Lockyer will move into the newly-created role this month reporting to board director Darren Evan.
Lockyer has been with Cuddy for three years after nine years at Wrekin Construction.
He started as a site manager before working his way up to project manager and contracts manager overseeing some of Cuddy’s biggest projects.
Managing director Mike Cuddy said: “Despite the difficult economic climate of recent years, Cuddy’s construction team has continued to excel.
“In three years the number of employees has doubled, turnover has trebled and the division has increasingly secured larger and more complex civil engineering schemes.
“It is therefore important that the department evolves in alignment with this, so that we have the right personnel development, quality control, health and safety and innovation processes and procedures in place.”
“Whilst Cuddy’s demolition expertise is renowned on a national and even international scale, our civils division has traditionally concentrated on projects within Wales.
“Yet we have recently been appointed to pave the way for new developments in Bristol and Weston-Super-Mare, and our strategy will be to carefully build upon this nationwide expansion success over the next 18 months.
“Our forward order book is incredibly healthy, and I know that Gavin’s fresh, enthusiastic and professional approach will play a crucial part in the sustained growth of our civil engineering division in the future.”
