Works will include changes to the Reading town centre highways infrastructure, the creation of new interchange facilities and wider junction improvements.

The scheme includes road improvements which will make it easier for road users, bus passengers, pedestrians and cyclists to access the station, which is being rebuilt and expanded as part of a £850m remodelling plan.

The council intends to phase the work in four distinct packages under the single contract over a period of three years.
