Progressive alliance led by Babcock and Scott Wilson URS are now in a head to head race with AXIOM, a joint venture between Jacobs, Amec, Assystem and Mott MacDonald.
The nuclear company said the deal would be the first true alliance style framework contract and would bring certainty and security to the supply chain at all levels for both tier two and three.
This would allow long term investment in local infrastructure and resources.
The new alliance partners will providing specialist design, engineering and safety case assessment services at the site.
