The college procurment team started the search today for a contractor to design and build a £17m complex to meet the University’s need for additional student bed spaces by September 2013.
The university said it hoped to submit a planning application for its development on the council-owned St John’s open-air car park by the end of the year.

The site is one of two car parks in Northampton’s town centre that will soon make way for building projects.
Northampton Borough Council has revealed a company wants to build a 107-bed, three-star hotel on the Albion Place car park, near the Royal & Derngate theatre.
Plans for the hotel are expected to be submitted to the council at the end of the year. If the scheme is approved, construction work would start in 2012 and be completed in 2013.
