Diment was placed on indeterminate leave late last year after his relationship with senior FMB officials deteriorated.
The trade body confirmed in a statement today: “The Federation of Master Builders and Richard Diment have agreed that now is an appropriate time for Richard to pursue other interests.
“During his nearly five years as our Director General he has been an effective advocate for members and the wider construction industry during very difficult economic times.
“He has done much to help ensure that the FMB is fully engaged in all the key issues that affect members and impact on the success of their businesses.
“The changes that Richard oversaw at the FMB in areas such as raising standards for entry and enhanced services for members will benefit the FMB and its members for many years to come.
“The FMB wishes Richard every success in the future.”
