The Preston-based main contractor said it was responding to existing customers and set up the new division to offer the know how of a large scale construction firm on a small scale basis.
Its special projects business will focus on works contracts of between £10k and £1m.
The news comes as a blow to struggling small firms in the North who now face a main contractor muscling in on their patch.
John Dean, commercial manager and Mark Smith, construction manager will head up the new venture which will specialise in refurbishment of existing buildings, extensions and framework maintenance.
Smith said: “Special Projects will add to the already excellent service Eric Wright Construction provide to our clients, enabling them to maintain continuity regardless of the size of the project and type of work they require.”
