The deal follows LSE’s acquisition last year of 32 Lincoln’s Inn Fields to enlarge its campus.
Willmott Dixon will carry out a full internal modernisation of the Grade II listed building to integrate it with LSE’s existing campus.
Work will start on the 11,500m2 scheme later this month and is due for completion in November.
LSE’s project manager is Davis Langdon and the site team also includes Jestico and Whiles, architect, Ellis & Moore, structural engineers and Hoare Lea for the M&E.
Work involves stripping out chimney stacks, partitions and M&E services to create a new learning environment packed with the latest academic facililities including two Harvard style lecture theatres.
Gerry Graville, Willmott Dixon Interiors managing director said: “This is great news for London as it will see a major enlargement of one of the capital’s most renowned places of learning.
“We are looking forward to helping LSE realise it growth ambitions.”
