I’ll be picking the possible winner and assessing England’s chances in the next few weeks.
But first up here’s a couple of juicy bets to get into early before the prices disappear as the rest of the gambling world cottons-on.
The top goalscorer market is headed by Bayern Munich and Germany’s centre forward Mario Gomez at 7/1.
It’s an easy one for me to say Nein to this particular No9 having seen Gomez in action recently.
Obviously he’s no mug with an outstanding record in the Bundesliga and Champions League qualifiers.
But when the heat is on he looks like one of those non-lethal strikers who need six chances to score one.
Not the sort of fella you want carrying your hard-earned at a major tournament.
I like the look of Spain’s Fernando Llorente who is available at a still-generous 14/1.
The Athletico Bilbao hit-man was top Spanish scorer in La Liga last year and seems to come alive when the pressure is on.
David Villa will not make the squad through injury so it looks like Llorente will lead the line of a side who always create chances and are guaranteed to go a long way in the tournament.
He’s already been backed in from 20s so get on quick because the price will only go one way.
Another bit of value at the other end of the scale is in the top England goalscorer market.
I fear this could be shared by those with a solitary strike because we struggle to score at major tournaments – a haul of three goals at the last World Cup tells its own story.
John Terry is the man who makes most appeal at 40/1.
He has a decent international scoring record and could pop up from a corner to take a share of the spoils at a large price.
“JT” will definitely play after being picked by Hodgson and his keenness is in no doubt as anyone who saw him rush on to the pitch in full kit and shin pads to join the Champions League celebrations will testify.
Talking of celebrations, I must congratulate West Ham for winning promotion.
Victory at Wembley was a great feeling despite the fact it sparked a 12-hour celebration which left me skint, confused and almost homeless.
