The two top scoring contractors for the station framework will be awarded the Ibrox and Kelvinbridge station upgrade immediately.
Subsequent station fit-out work will then be let after a series of mini competitions during the six-year station programme.
The refurbishment is the first since the modernisation of the underground network in the 1970s.
Glasgow’s iconic subway, the only one in Scotland, was the third underground railway to exist in the world when it opened in December 1896.
