Results for the full year to March 31 2012 show revenue in the UK was down to £75m from £87.2m last time while operating profit also fell to £4m from £5.5m.
Work in the rail and water sectors kept ticking over while highways and the property and environment markets were “subdued”.
The UK order book rose to £106.2m from £98.9m but Hyder also cut staff numbers across the country from 1,139 to 1,084.
Globally Hyder saw turnover dip to £277.3m from £290.3m as pre-tax profit dropped to £17.6m from £18.2m.
