Four win North Wales highway major repairs deal

The Welsh Government has selected its four favoured contractors to carry out major highways repair in the newly formed Mid and North Wales region.

North & Mid Wales, repair and emergency work up to £10m

  • Alun Griffiths (Contractors)
  • Hanson Contracting
  • Hogan Construction
  • Tarmac

The two once separate regions have been merged into a single 3-year framework in the hope of greater cost savings.

The contractor framework will be operated by the newly-named body, the North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agency.

Wales’ southern region will continue as a separate framework deal under existing arrangements.

Although the framework includes the major project element for four firms, the vast majority of the £15m spent annually on planned and emergency work will be let through small works packages for a panel of contractors ranging from four to eight firms.

The framework will involve civil, highways, and structures engineering for new highway construction works, improvement works and maintenance renewals.
