Cabinet secretary Francis Maude will reveal the second stage in his crusade to cut costs and raise quality this week with plans to record officially contractors’ performance.
He will hold a meeting with the Government’s 22 largest suppliers on Thursday to outline his latest plan to drop firms from bid lists for previous poor delivery.
The line-up of major suppliers attending the meeting is expected to include Balfour Beatty, Carillion and Interserve who were summoned to a meeting last year where they were told to cut profit margins.
