The winning firm will build new park and ride sites at Askham Bar off A1036 Tadcaster Road and Poppleton off A59.
There will also be several improvements to the existing highway network, including signalised junctions and roundabout upgrades a new subway.

Following tendering of the work and final approval by the Department of Transport it is expected that construction will start in early 2013 with the two sites opening in spring/summer 2014.
Poppleton Bar (A59)
The proposed Poppleton Bar Park & Ride site is located alongside the A59 at the junction with North Field Lane. The site will cater for 1,250 cars but will be built in 2 stages. Project includes a major upgrade to the A59/A1237 roundabout including improved pedestrian and cycling crossing facilities, traffic signals at the North Field Lane/Station Road/A59 Junction and bus priorities along the A59.
Askham Bar
The proposed new site for 1,250 cars (Phase 1 will create 1100 spaces, double the existing capacity) is located to the west of the existing site on the former landfill tip to the rear of the Tesco supermarket on Tadcaster Road.
