Developer United House and former St George director Tony Carey have formed a joint venture to buy a prime residential site close to the Thames in Fulham, West London.

The partners will submit detailed plans for a £35m riverside residential scheme next to Craven Cottage football ground shortly.

United House’s construction arm is expected to start on site in early in 2013, with completion in the summer of 2014.

The 0.4 acre site, a former day care centre on Stevenage Road, is being acquired from the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham after an informal tender process.

Jeffrey Adams, group chief executive of United House, said: “This will be a first-class acquisition next to the Thames in an attractive area in Fulham and an excellent opportunity for United House to work with Tony Carey, one of the capital’s most experienced and highly skilled residential developers.

“Together, we will create homes that reflect the exciting, high quality design for which both United House Developments and Tony are renowned.”

Carey said: “I am delighted to be working with Jeff and his team at United House. We’ve built a strong partnership in a short time and I hope this is the first of many projects together”.

Last month Carey received a £5m payment from Berkeley Group to end a long running dispute over his dismissal 18 months ago.

Carey, 62, was a director at Berkeley for 17 years alongside Tony Pidgley, the chairman and founder, before being ousted as head of the St George London house building division.
