Over the next 15 years the redevelopment of the Royal Ordnance site site in Bishopton will see construction of 2,500 houses along with a school, library and leisure facilities.
The first phase of the scheme, which will see a full mix of two to five-bedrooms homes, is scheduled to start in September 2012, with the first homes going on sale in early 2013.
Over the course of the project it is estimated up to 4,000 jobs will be created.
BAE has already invested £32m cleaning up the land and preparing primary roads and services.
The decontamination and demolition of buildings for Phase 1 was completed in May to allow further clearance of the site. Earthworks will continue until early 2013 with further engineering work planned for 2014.
