The MoD will next month start the search for a contractor to handle the redevelopment of the Deepcut Army Barracks in Surrey.

The job will involve building new service accommodation and training facilities for relocating military units to Worthy Down in Hampshire.

Once the relocation of the British Army’s Royal Logistics Corps is completed, the next element of the contract involves redeveloping the Princess Royal Barracks Deepcut site in Surrey for 1,200 homes.

Property agent GVA has been instructed to find a firm to build the new tri-service training facility with associated single living and service family accommodation at Worthy Down.

A formal invitation to tender with be published in the OJEU next month with an estimated contract value of £200m-£300m.

The MoD hopes the successful bidder will part fund infrastructure work in return for a share of the net proceeds realised from land sales and home building.

GVA is also on the hunt for a development manager for Arborfield Garrison in Berkshire to deliver a 2,000 new homes scheme.

The selected firm will also be required to progress planning, manage the disposal process and construct site infrastructure and build a percentage of the residential units.
