Balfour has also confirmed it will manage M&E work on the £15m Ormiston Park academy school in Thurrock, Essex, where Airedale had been preferred bidder.
The failure of the £66m turnover Leeds firm ranks as the biggest building services contractor collapse since MJN Colston earlier this year.
Around 135 staff lost their jobs and several projects will be affected by the administration.
