The new build and refurbishment programme is centred on four major schemes to provide new teaching space, student accommodation and a Centre for the Arts.

Plans have now been submitted to Bath and North East Somerset Council with a decision due in October.

The university will then press ahead with its procurement programme with all construction work due to be completed by September 2015.

The four major schemes are:

A £26m general teaching building containing a main 350-seat lecture theatre which is due to open in October 2013

A £43m student accommodation complex containing 708 bedrooms which is due for completion in summer 2014

A new £10.9m Centre for the Arts which will be built by autumn 2014

Refurbishment of the 1 West complex which will be carried-out in three phases worth a total of £22m.
