The venue held canoe slalom events at the Games and will be converted under a £4.5m deign and build contract.

The original venue was built by Morrison.

A contractor will be appointed in December with work set to start next January and last until September 2013.

Work will involve the remodelling of hard and soft landscaping areas, building a training and administration facility for use by the British Canoe Union, the construction of a Park Pavilion containing café and toilet facilities for visitors to the site, alterations and improvements to the existing facilities building and provision of additional car parking spaces on the site.
