The programme is designed to improve performance on Kier’s £600m maintenance contract covering 16,000 council-owned properties across the region.
Forty-five companies attended a recent supply chain event run by Kier to highlight the training on offer.
Courses will include manual handling, first aid and asbestos training.
The courses are all local and Kier can offer them at competitive prices.
Since the launch of the scheme two weeks ago, 43 firms have already booked places.
Kier regional director, Mike Furze, said: “At Kier, we work closely with members of our supply chain to ensure they are fully trained and hold relevant qualifications.
“We are proud to be able to work with each and every one of our suppliers to help them meet the requirements they need to fulfil their contracts and help us provide the best service to our customers.
“By supporting local providers, we are also able to further fulfil our commitment to being a socially responsible partner.”
