Major industry players are signing-up with mobile snagging software which is revolutionising how defects are dealt with on site.

The iSnag service from Dome Consulting is being adopted by leading industry names and their supply chains.

Industry heavyweights adopting iSnag include Lend Lease, Mace, Sir Robert McAlpine, Canary Wharf Contractors, ISG and Overbury.

Authorised users on sites can download the iSnag App and use their tablets and smartphones to record defects.

The iSnag system evolved from the Dome Connect project collaboration software.

Defects captured on mobile devices are automatically synchronised to the Dome Connect system.

Developer Nick Hutchinson said: “We are very proud to see the impact iSnag has made since its official release earlier this year and we look forward to continuing to help project teams manage inspections and snagging more effectively.”

Site snags are recorded directly onto mobile devices by camera and video replacing the archaic system of recording problems by hand.

Main contractors licence the use of Dome Connect across a project then the App is free for subcontractors, consultants and any other authorised members of the project team to download and use.

Neil Miller, Managing Director, Dome Consulting, said: “Working as Commissioning Management consultants we had daily experience of the frustration, delay and cost caused by inefficient snagging, defect management and inspection processes.

“Developing a software tool to eliminate these problems was a natural add-on to our Dome Connect project collaboration, O&M, commissioning and asset management solution.

“We started developing iSnag in 2011 and formally launched it in July at the Government Construction Summit, having refined it on various large scale projects in London.

“We are proud to be influencing higher quality construction projects and better performing buildings by introducing these new, innovative technologies.”
