It involves construction of a two-storey student services building and a new main reception area and learning zone at the university’s College Lane campus.
Work also includes the refurbishment of several existing buildings at the campus in Hatfield
The project is part of the University of Hertfordshire’s ambitious ‘2020 Estates Vision’ redevelopment plan which will transform the university’s College Lane and de Havilland Campuses.
The new-build development is designed to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating. A key feature of the building includes several water saving features and an attractive and sustainable ‘green roof’.
Morgan Sindall is due to complete the job in May 2014 and will have around 80 people working on site at the peak of construction.
Morgan Sindall area director, Bob Ensch, said: “The University of Hertfordshire’s 2020 Estates Vision is an exciting and ambitious redevelopment plan and we are looking forward to bringing our extensive experience in constructing education facilities to bear on this development.”
