Southampton Morrisons supermarket approved

Supermarket chain Morrisons has gained planning to build a 60,000 sq ft supermarket in Southampton.

Developer Arcadian Estates plans to demolish a 1970s shopping centre at East Street to make way for the new Morrisons supermarket.

Two levels of parking for 286 cars will be built above the store for both shoppers and visitors.

A main contractor has yet to be appointed to deliver the £10m building project.
