Many companies believe they can save a fortune by moving away from the traditional model of using recruitment agencies to source staff.
One leading contractor said: “We were spending hundreds of thousands on agencies during the last peak of the market and have decided to go down a different route as things start to pick-up again.
“We have invested a lot on our own jobs page on our website and just need to get more candidates to visit it.
“We’ve used the Enquirer to help us with that and enjoyed a healthy stream of good quality industry candidates.”
Contractors are unhappy with the fees charged by many agencies and the quality of candidates sent by general online jobs boards.
Another HR professional said: “It’s all about reaching the right people.
“General jobs boards have a large audience but you just get swamped with unqualified or unsuitable applicants.
“The Enquirer is perfect for us because we know it has a great reach across the industry and is read daily by all contractors which is exactly how we will find future employees.
“The internet is revolutionising how many things are run and recruitment is no different.
“The model for bigger contractors will be hosting their own recruitment pages and using sites like the Enquirer to attract in candidates.”
