Muse Developments has awarded Shepherd a contract to build a new Sainsbury’s store.
The 50-week construction programme on the 12,500m² food store is due to begin next week.
Work on the £10m plus deal will comprise the construction of a three-storey building and mezzanine office space, with a complex faceted glazed façade that will be 100 metres wide and 17 metres high.
A two-storey, 600-space car park will also be constructed above the store.
Peter Bates of Shepherd Construction said “This project will deliver a high quality building that makes a real statement at the gateway to the whole 25-acre development.
“We look forward to working with Muse Developments again and playing our role in the delivery of a new civic and cultural quarter for Blackpool.”
Eric Wright has already won a £16.5m deal at Talbot Gateway to build new council offices while Tolent is working on a £6.5m car-park refurbishment at the site.
