Solfex was the brainchild of Stuart and Susan Cooper, who set up the business six years ago, to act as a one-stop shop for green products.
The firm’s approach to integrating and supplying components through its distribution platform saw it named as the fifth fastest growing private company in the Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100.
Solfex has generated a cumulative annual revenue growth rate of 179% over the past three years and last year turned over £22m, generating an operating profit of £2.2m.
The firm specialises in solar panel systems, underfloor heating and heat pumps.
Geoff Cooper, Travis Perkins chief executive, said: “Solfex is a valuable addition to the Plumbing and Heating Division of the Travis Perkins Group.
“Our strategy of offering our customers an integrated approach to energy efficient building will be greatly enhanced by the market leading proposition created by the Solfex team.”
