The Marine Works contract will involve construction of tunnels to channel seawater in and out of the plant.
Main nuclear build contractor BYLOR – a consortium of Bouygues and Laing O’Rourke – is waiting for client EDF to rubber stamp the project as funding doubts continue.
One project source told the Enquirer: “Everything is on hold while EDF and the government sort out the money.
“But obviously the main contractor is constantly updated about who else will be working on the other civils packages and Costain/McAlpine have got this one.”
Earthworks worth £100m on the site are being carried-out by a Kier/Bam joint venture while Dean & Dyball has won a £30m jetty contract
