New group finance director Paul Rayner previously worked with defence engineering specialist Chemring for 12 years.
He replaces Rod Harris in the hot seat, a former Carillion finance director who joined in June 2011 at the height of the consultant’s financial troubles.
Harris worked with chief executive Grant Rumbles on the firm’s survival plan, which was rejected by shareholders forcing the firm to enter a pre-pack administration with assets and trading name bought back by RBS, Lloyds Banking Group and Barclays and the group’s management team.
Before that David Tilston had a short stint as group finance director from September 2010 to June 2011 after taking over from Kevin Young, who left Mouchel after 12 years.
At Chemring, Rayner oversaw the business treble in size, both organically and by acquisition since 2008.
He has extensive UK and international experience including operations in Australia and the Middle East.
Prior to this, he worked with Deloitte’s for 10 years.
