There are no reports of any injuries from the incident which happened on Saturday.
It is believed the bricks fell on to the car park used by cab drivers next to the development.
A spokesman for developers Solum Regeneration told the Walthamstow Guardian:“Solum takes health and safety extremely seriously.
“We are aware of an incident which occurred onsite Saturday and we are currently investigating this matter with our contractor.”
Vinci is main contractor on the job.
Construction is due to be completed within months on the site which contains a 14 storey Travelodge hotel and two eight storey apartment blocks.
Solum is a joint venture between Network Rail and Kier.
