The £300m partnership will deliver more than 900 apartments across 10 new and 16 refurbished sheltered housing schemes.
Chris Webster, chief executive of Miller Construction, said: “In addition to being the largest housing project in the region over the next three years, this project has a number of key community benefits attached to it, including creating up to 500 jobs for the region.
“As part of our corporate responsibility commitment, we are aiming for 30% of the construction workforce to be from the borough’s most deprived areas.”
Solutions for North Tyneside, a consortium comprising Miller Construction, Equitix and Keepmoat, will carry out the refurbishment and construction work as well as maintenance over 28 years.
It is expected work will start on site in September and all the schemes will be completed by autumn 2016.
