The builder has entered into redundancy consultations with 45 staff around the country, blaming the extremely challenging market.
The job cuts will hit site and office-based staff at the firm’s Midlands, London and North West construction units.
Chairman John Kirkland told the Derbyshire Telegraph: “This decision hasn’t been made lightly. The construction industry remains extremely challenging and it is with deep regret that we have to re-evaluate our staffing levels.
“But it is necessary to ensure the competitiveness of our construction division in the future.”
B&K expanded on the back of the boom in large supermarkets and local publicly funded building projects in recent years and presently employs 1,341 staff.
But the slowdown in building work in both key sectors is squeezing forecast future orders.
