The latest ICAEW/Grant Thornton UK Business Confidence Monitor shows construction leading the way across all industries.
The monitor recorded a confidence index of +24 across all sectors during the last quarter – its highest level for more than three years.
But things were even better in construction with a confidence index of +31.4.
Phil Westerman, Partner and Head of Construction at Grant Thornton UK, said: “From the discussions we’ve been having with construction companies up and down the country, the survey results are definitely reflecting the more positive mood from people in the sector.
“The government’s Help to Buy scheme has helped boost confidence in the ailing housing sector, but the improvements indicated by the survey are even better than expected.
“With further major infrastructure projects due to start in the near future, it’s important that construction businesses are able to sustain this level of confidence going forward.”
