Thomas Vale managing director Tony Hyde has stepped up to become chairman of the Midlands builder in a top level shake-up.

Former construction director Gary Mail takes over as new managing director with immediate effect steering day-to-day management of the Bouygues UK owned firm.

Mail, who has worked at Thomas Vale since 2002, will also join the Bouygues UK Leadership Team.

He said: “I am relishing the prospect of building upon Tony’s leadership of the Thomas Vale business. By driving continuous improvement and new thinking throughout the business, we will ensure that we are doing the very best for our clients.”

Hyde will retain a personal focus on key business clients in the Midlands identifying strategic schemes where the builder can add value.

Hyde said: “I couldn’t retire just yet…the challenge is just too exciting.”

“Thomas Vale, our clients and the fantastic people that work with us, have been a huge part of my life since I joined in the business in 1980, so of course, I am delighted to take on the Chairman role and be given the opportunity in such an exciting time in the development of the business.

He will also continue as Bouygues UK’s Director responsible for Corporate Responsibility.
