The agency aims to use the new agreement for between £4bn to £5bn of schemes over the next 4 – 6 years and will start prequalifying firms next month.
This would include around £3.8bn of major works and an allowance of £0.7bn for junction, super pinch point and asset renewal works.
Predicted work also includes an allowance of £500m for other government departments that wish to use the framework.
The plan is to break the work up into three lots covering engineering design services, medium-value and high-value construction jobs.
Highways Agency chiefs will be holding a suppliers’ briefing on 24 September at Concourse Suite 1and 2, The NEC, Birmingham, starting at 9:30am.
