A blaze broke out in the roof of the £125m project in Glasgow in June.
Lend Lease and its subcontractors have been battling since the summer to hit the opening day deadline.
The keys have now been handed over on the 12,000-seat arena ready for its opening night on Monday.
John Sharkey, chief executive of client SEC Ltd, said: “Building our new arena has been a very complex project, with a big team behind it and not without its challenges including the fire that broke out on site during a key stage of the construction.”
Gordon Anderson, executive general manager of main contractor Lend Lease, said: “That we are standing here at this incredible venue is testament to the hard work, professionalism and diligence of not only the Lend Lease team working on the project, but also the entire workforce and supply chain involved in the project since the first foundations were constructed in February 2011.”
Rod Stewart added: “I have been looking forward to this as I’ve watched The SSE Hydro take shape. 2013 is a momentous year for me. I cannot wait to get back to Scotland and perform in front of a live audience at this spectacular venue.”
