The university plans to demolish self-catering accommodation at its Richardson Road site to pave the way for nearly 1,000 student rooms and a new £4m sports centre.
Project manager Summers Inman, which recently oversaw the refurbishment of the university’s student union building, will now steer the student accommodation project.
Plans to demolish the site for new student halls boasting ensuite rooms were first revealed two years ago.
