Construction is expected to start in April 2014 with the college opening to students in September 2015.
A 9,100 square metre, three storey building will support growth in vocational training and apprenticeships in areas such as engineering, construction and hair and beauty as well as university level courses and army resettlement.
Di Dale, Principal and Chief Executive, Wiltshire College said: “The Chippenham project represents the next stage in the transformation of Wiltshire College’s facilities across the county.
“This transformation programme has already delivered a state of the art Learning Resource Centre in our Trowbridge campus and work is underway on the new Construction Skills Centre also in Trowbridge which is due to open in September 2014.”
Students studying at the college will be unaffected by the building works.
Once the new building is complete, the existing buildings will be demolished and the site landscaped.
Plans will be submitted in November for approval.
