Developer Land Securities plans to expand the 680,000 sq ft White Rose Shopping Centre by around 25% and submitted a planning application for a cinema, four new restaurants back in April.
City planners are due to give their verdict on the plan, which include extensions to the existing Debenhams and Primark stores, before the end of the year and the contractor is understood in talks to build the job.
Already Morgan Sindall has just started work on the £7m revamp of the existing food hall at the White Rose. This element of work will add an extra 14,000 sq ft on to its current size, increasing to more than 21,000 sq ft.
Harlan Pollitt, portfolio manager for Land Securities, said: “The food court redevelopment will add momentum to the high calibre of retailers that are launching within the scheme and it will cement White Rose’s position as a fashion and leisure destination.”
