Raiders entered the yard on Sherburn in Elmet Industrial Estate sometime overnight and took the steel along with a large trailer which it was stored in.

They used an HGV tractor unit to move the trailer, which didn’t have any registration plates attached.

North Yorkshire police are appealing to anyone who saw any suspicious people or vehicles in the area around the time of the incident to come forward with information.

You are also urged to get in touch if you have recently been offered a large quantity of fabricated steel for sale.
