Administrators from Begbies Traynor were called in to take control of Driffield-based Dodds Roofing last week after the family business was knocked over by a bad debt.
Avonside Roofing, which installs over 15,000 roofs a year, sealed a deal with Begbies soon after the collapse to fill a hole in its nationwide network of depots.
Joint administrator Andrew Mackenzie from the Begbies’ Hull office, said: “This is a well-established and viable business with a loyal customer base which suffered from financial problems following recent bad debts.”
“We were able to step in and swiftly find a purchaser for the business, preserving its value by acting quickly to avoid disruption and providing a seamless transition.
“As part of a large national company, which is a market leader in the roofing sector, the business now has a more secure future which is great news for its staff, subcontractors and customers. The deal is the best possible outcome, enabling a well-established local business to continue to trade.”
Dodds traded for more than 19 years, and established a strong reputation offering specialist roofing contractor’s services throughout East, West and North Yorkshire.
It joins the fast-growing £50m turnover Avonside Services Group, which operates a regional depot network of more than 18 locations, and six divisions covering the building envelope.
