John Allan, CBE, will succeed Bob Lawson who retires in November after a short handover period.
Current chairman Lawson said: “In November, I will have served on the board for more than six years and seen the business recover strongly after the financial markets crisis by focusing on increasing profitability, reducing debt and increasing land investment.
“I am very pleased to be handing over to someone of John’s standing and experience; I am certain that he will make a major contribution to Barratt’s future.”
John Allan, who joins in August as chairman designate, said: “The company’s recent performance has been very strong and I look forward to leading the board and supporting the management team in developing the company’s strategy and performance still further.”
