Private developer West Nile Developments is using the OJEU system to launch the race because the scheme is partly backed with public cash.

The project will deliver a total of 8,489 m² of new space including a new floor at roof level under a design and build deal.

The OJEU notice states: “The exterior of the building is to be fully restored and internally certain heritage items are to preserved and incorporated into the works.

“The work will commence as soon as possible after the selection of the main contractor and practical completion is anticipated to be in August/September 2015.”

Up to five firms will be shortlisted for the job.
