Contractors are being asked to express an interest in the initital design phase of a two-stage tender race to build an extension to the Judge Business School.
Tender documents are now due to be issued in the second quarter of 2014 for a planned start on site in the autumn of next year.
The architects for the scheme will be London-based Stanton Williams, who designed the award-winning Sainsbury Laboratory at the Botanic Garden.
Building work will take place at the rear of the existing Business School and includes demolition of an area of hostels.
The business school is located in the old Addenbrooke’s Hospital, first established on the site in 1766.
The original Georgian building was extended and reconstructed in the 1800s, and in the early 1960s.
