The firm’s construction arm beat Kier and Balfour Beaty to land the job to build a new squadron office at the home of the Royal Navy’s Lynx helicopters and the commando helicopter force.
Codenamed the Wildcat Infrastructure Project, MoD plans to let two more contracts at the base.
Carillion’s building job is the smallest at around £6m. But it is also in the hunt for the largest, called contract 5, valued at £60m, which will see demolition and construction of three accommodation blocks for senior ratings.
Work also includes a sports pavilion and alterations to existing medical and dental centres.
Contract 2 (Little Yeovilton) involves building new quartermaster and military transport facilities for the Army Air Corps plus rationalisation of the existing Little Yeovilton site and associated infrastructure projects.
This project is estimated to be worth around £15m.
